Replacement of Tank Covers
Tanks with steel covers will corrode when exposed to the weather. Even if the tank is sheltered, water vapour from within the tank will cause the bolts/nuts or under structure to rust and become unsound.
Tank covers and frames are replaced with longer lasting material, hot-dipped galvanized steel. Tanks replaced with these materials 15 years ago were found to be in fairly good condition today.
